Ok so im just wondering how to breed crickets? I have a fish aquarium, food bowl, egg cartons and the heating.
I read somewhere to use a 60w, is this alright? Also im not to sure about the water bowl, i would like to build one as im trying to not spend anything (other than for the heat/light of course)
Do i use soil/sand over the WHOLE thing or only on half of the tank and lay newspaper on the other side?
Lol i have alot of questions!
Oh last question, what do i feed em?
Thanks!
(btw i feed him medium crickets so do i start off with medium crickets?)
I used a plastic tote that I had with some adults. I put in a sandwich container with potting soil in it that I got from my local walmart. Left it in the tote with them 3 to 7 days then put it under a 75 watt bulb (60 will work I just used what I had) with saran wrap over it to keep the dirt moist which is major important. W eek or 2 later I had pinheads. They looked white at first. That's what worked for me. I checked out breeding crickets on you tube. There are a lot of videos there. Some good some bad.
Forgot to mention. Start with adults. If not u will have to wait till they become adults to get any eggs. Feed the crickets greens, lettuce, potato slices, ground up dry cat food. I think that answers all of your questions. If you have any more you can either post them or email me at benagoh74@gmail.com.
Damp warm eco earth(coconut fibers) works great stays damp. Keep it damp and warm I have a 60watt bulb with a flukers heat dome ceramic under the cage. The cage is a 5 gallon with about an inch of eco earth. Then I toss only the females in the tank with crushed dog food and wet paper towel in jar lids. Then the next week I had little white crickets popping out 10 days was the first sign. I failed 3 times with potting soil and the light above the tank. Then made a stand to hold the heat dome upside down to keep the eco earth warm.
Sorry if this is kinda jumpy I'm on my phone lol but it works pm me ill try to post a video soon.
Yeah their like half the size of a rice grain little white eggs. Most of them just hatched now I gunna say I got about thousand babies. out of 20ish female crickets in 3-4 days in the tank. They hatch about the same size as the egg all white semi clear. Ummm the eggs that failed for me is when they turned yellow these ones that hatched stayed white for like 10 days till they started hatching.
My eco earth was the dried brick kind.
I just used half and kept adding water till it all came apart in the tank then put the heat lamp under it and it stayed pretty damp till they hatched.
