That little guy looks roughOh, will it.? So I don't need to do the inder skin fluid thingie.? If not, that'd be great. But yeah, he'll take at least one ml of the critical care/repashy mix a day.
Dont be suprised if the urates are inside the poop. Kai had some poops with no urate but a nice white moist urate was inside the poop. But I agree with AHBD and xp29, he needs more hydration. That's for sure. However, I think he's not as bad as I thought, considering. I made a probiotic and critical care mix (couldnt find the darn repashy) and as soon as I got him out, his eyes were open, he was looking around and wanted to run around and was black beard. He ate two, count them TWO WHOLE mls of it.
so im thinking, in conjuction of everything else, the move is stressing him out. He is losing weight and he pooped but it... looked weird.? It looked like it was...encased in something.? Half digested supers but no urate at all, that I saw so im gonna take him to our vet and have them give him one of those under the skin fluid shot things.
Okay, so we moved and its been a whirlwind of a week or two.
So, he has several parasites, including coccidia. He was sent two doses of marquis paste, one one day and the next in 48 hours. A dose of metronidazole one day and second dose in two weeks (she wants an updated weight to give the proper dosage) a dose of panacur and another dose in two weeks, totalling in 4 doses total and intrafungol everyday. He eats the supers, we haven't tried horns because to buy them in the store, its like $20 for just a few so we have to get them from a website. Im gonna start giving him the repashy twice a day and still prolly see about getting a sub-q because he's definitely dehydrated and the meds are making him feel icky.
But he's hanging on, still trucking. So we have hope. He definitely looks rough and is so skinny and real dehydrated but we're trying. Our vet didnt flat out tell us she felt like he wouldnt make it so im hoping that means shes confident in us helping him.
Also, I got the swab test and just curious, Tracie, who is scott.? You wrote Scott on the letter and the package and I thought you knew my name was Amber.![]()
This makes me so sad. He really does look to be in bad shapeI dont think he's gonna make it, guys. For two days, he's been like this for about two days now. Wont eat, Breathing really slow and shallow, barely open his eyes, doesn't really move. I tried to give him a bath to see if he'd drink and he wont hold his head up and was gonna let it go under water. He's pooping every little while, just small amounts. I want to think its the meds making him feel really sick, but I dont know. I dont have the money to bring him back to the vet (about $150) till Friday, i dont even have the money to do a sub-q of fluids ($60) till friday either. I don't know what to do, I feel like I failed him.
Not with the YF, they won't.This makes me so sad. He really does look to be in bad shape
Is there an animal rescue there that might would take him in and provide medical care? ( I know that isn't Idea but it might save him)
That is much how C.J. looked just before I lost her also. Young beardies seem much harder to save than older beardies. It's very hard to get fluids and food in the small guys when they won't eat on their own. I think maybe their immune system doesn't get a chance to really get established like an older beardie.
If you can use an eyedropper or painters pipette to get some water in him, it might help, but be super carful not to force it, it could drown no
All you can do is keep trying. The vet never should have put him on meds until he was stronger. That's why I waited to take Apricot in. It's hard enough working with them without the meds. Maybe try some butternut squash, that seems to be Apricots favorite, maybe he'll eat a little of it also. Not with the YF, they won't.if i put it on his nose and sorta gently pry open his mouth a tiny bit, he'll lick and eat some, maybe a quarter of a ml and on a good day, 2 mls but ever since he got the metronidazole and another dose of intrafungol a few days ago, he's been like this. I know its messing up his belly because he has some diarrhea but im wondering if the 6 supers he ate the day before are causing an issue but he isnt bloated and doesnt seem in pain, just weak and tired. Ughhhh I cant handle anymore death and dont know what to do anymore..
Well, he was actually way better than this before giving the meds, considering the several parasites, coccidia, YF and malnourished. He'd walk around more, and was more alert and stuff. Im thinking (more like hoping and praying) the metro and intrafungol are taking a toll, i haven't even given him the panacur yet becsyse he already evidently feels like crap. All you can do is keep trying. She seems to like carrots as well, the peas and green beans not so much.
I've never heard of that personallyWell, he was actually way better than this before giving the meds, considering the several parasites, coccidia, YF and malnourished. He'll open his eyes a bit if I pick him up and stuff and while feeding, he'll occasionally try to jump down and take a couple of steps away but thats about it since day before yesterday. Do you think refeeding syndrome could be possible.? I freaking hope not...
