So I've been really MIA lately, new job, house moving, etc. I've got a lot to catch up on and a lot of pics to post. Will do later. Anyhow, I went to the New York Reptile Expo today in White Plains, and what do you know....came home with a baby iggie! It's a Cuban x Blue Iguana. No name yet, and (s)he's still getting accustomed. Put a salad of escarole and apples in the tank for now with a bowl of water, and I have a Reptisun 10 that I picked up (same thing I use for the beardies). Working on my research now, but wondering if there's anything else I need to know that's imperative.
Pics coming tonight...I promise  Still have some things to do to help him get settled. Actually about to go to Home Depot now for the light fixtures.

He definitely has the iggy attitude. He's very skittish right now, but that's to be expected. He's hissed a couple of times, and has opened his mouth at me, but nothing a little loving can't fix
Wow Blue. Are you in the conservation program for these guys? I heard they are becomign more and more rare in the wild in the one island they are found on. Greens from Mexico got lose and are populating in competition with them.
Well he's a cross between a Cuban Rock Iggie and a Blue iggie. The Grand Cayman Blues are VERY endangered (actually it's illegal to own them), but the Cubans not as much. I think he's called a Lewisi Hybrid, but I'm not positive yet. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of info out there on these guys in captivity, so I'm doing my best.
OH wow...educate me why don't you! Very cool. Interesting Cross and YES that is the Island I was thinking of. You rock. I can't wait to get home and see your pictures...Forbidden sucks...work... grumble...
BELIEVE ME, I've been doing TONS of research the past couple of days. I had always told myself that the next reptile I got was going to be planned and prepared for....then Brody stole my heart and I couldn't pass him up :love5: . So now I'm trying to get as much info as possible in the shortest amount of time
Hope you get to see the pictures. He really is a cutie (if I do say so myself )
I saw him at the show!! I even asked the guy if it was a Blue/Cuban cross. We bought a Red Ackie from that guy. We already have a Cuban, otherwise he might have been at MY house!
