Blood in pregnant beardie's anus?

Hi everyone,

My bearded dragon has a situation. Her butt is pooping out eggs, one every 3 days. She is getting skinny and we are worried about her.

From the last time she pooped, the lining of her anus had bloody streaks in it.

Could someone please advise on whether this is normal or not? Thank you so much!

No it's not normal and neither is passing one egg every 3 days. That can quickly become life threatening. If she is holding onto eggs and only letting 1 pass at a time, it's because she doesn't feel like she has a suitable place to lay them. You need to provide her a lay box so she can get all of her eggs out. She can become egg bound if she doesn't lay them all, and that is potentially fatal.

I provided her with a lay box (30 inch x 20 inch storage tote with 4 inches of play sand in it). I put her in there for a few days, but she doesn't want to dig when she's in it, she just tries to climb out. So I don't put her in it anymore.

She's been glass surfing in her enclosure.

What should I do?

Try maybe a smaller dig box, about 20" x 12" or so, of 50/50 organic topsoil with the sand, dampened with warm water to make a cookie dough consisrency to provide a better digging substrate. Have a lid covering half of it (cardboard is fine), or cut a hole in the lid it came with. See pic:

4 inches of sand isn't deep enough. She needs to be able to dig and burrow into it, so it needs to be moist and able to hold it's shape too. Think slightly drier than sand castle sand. Mixing in topsoil (without any fertilizers or additives to it) is a good way to help retain moisture in the mix.

Definitely let us know how she is doing. As Brandon suggested, try making the laybox substrate a little deeper.
Do you have a vet you could take her too if needed? You don't want her to lose anymore weight because once they become critical it's hard to get them reversed.

Hi there, how is your girl doing , I hope she's still O.K.!
Was there blood again ? It might have been a one time thing as she strained to push the eggs out. You can put her in the laybox for a couple hours every day but not leave her for the full day.
