No its black -- which is a sign of distress or pain -- breeding season will cause that as well - improper lighting and basking temps -- how old is the UVB bulb? And what is it a T 8 or a T 5 and the brand please -- how are you getting basking temps I dont see any gauges in the tankHis beard is always a darkish color Even as a baby.
Part of the morph?

Ok and it looks like good distance-- you want it 12-15 inches- when you take the bandage off l would leave it off and see if the black beard goes away or subsides- he may be in pain - but to determine that let's try leaving it off- please invest in 2 digital probe thermometers you want actual basking surface temps- one for your cool side one for the basking side - place probe on the spot he sits for basking wait 10 min get temp 95-100- you don't need to leave it there - spit check about once a week - heat bulbs do lose their strength- they are more accurate than IR guns especially on hammocks- if Yu out decide on getting a hammock please get a cloth or fleece one the green mesh and vine ones tend to cause more injury-Reptisun T5 10uvb. 4 months old.
I use a lazer thermometer to check temps. I’ve had 4 other beardies. He’s the only one with a beard color that’s dark grey to black (when he’s temporarily upset).
