Hi I am kinda new to bearies but I know that black spots on a beardies belly means he is stressed his back is also dark brown from the yellow and orange it usually is... the only thing i changed with his is added a repti glo 10.0 and now i have gim out of the cage on my shoulder and his nornmal colors came back. could this be caused by the light? any help is great
ive jsut also noticed his eyes being squinted and or closed so i turned the light off for now and just have the night infared light on.
Unfortunately, it appears it is the Repti-glo globe causing the problem. Both the tubes and compacts of this type of globe have had bad reports with causing eye problems, lethargy etc. Best to change for a REPTISUN 10.0 TUBE (not compact) or an Acadia D3 12% (if you are in the UK). For now, he will be fine without UVB for a week or so until you can get the Reptisun globe. In the US, the cheapest place is Pet Mountain (sorry, I don't know the link)
I would advise you to buy fixture with electronic ballast system. They don't flicker which is much, much better for beardies. That 50Hz flickering usually causes them eye problems, plus your bulb will last longer with electronic ballast. They do cost more but they are much better.
