Hi I hope everyone is okay.
This is my lil beardie called tango he’s 18 months old. I’ve recently just seen black lines on the side of his scales on his chin. He’s never had this before so I’m just worried rn. He eats and drinks normally he loves coming out of his enclosure every now and then. Is this normal please let me know thanks

Hi there ! Tango is a great looking dragon, love the orange beard . :)
The black lines are normal, that can turn varying degrees of black up to the very dark black full display. Of course males will show more than females and it's usually mood , including hormonal/breeding age males showing out. He's fine ! Do watch his weight just a little, they can get hefty rather easily and then it's hard to get the excess weight off.

That's normal. It's actually the skin under the scales that you can see between them.
Mine has a black skin between the scales on the beard, and orange and yellow between the scales on the back. Near the ear, my dragon has a yellow-orange color gradient with little grey scales.
So it's normal that the "edge, side" of the scales, which is actually the skin visible in the gap between scales, has a different color.

Hey there!

Thanks a bunch for getting back to me! I really appreciate it. Just a little background, my bearded dragon, Tango, is my first ever reptile pet, and I can't help but worry about him sometimes. I just want to make sure he’s happy and healthy—especially since it’s all new to me! Even if it’s something small that I shouldn’t stress over, I’d love to know!

By the way, I’ll definitely keep an eye on his weight. Whenever those mealworms come around, he goes absolutely crazy! It’s like watching a little tornado! 😂

Thanks again for your help!

He is a handsome guy. And like @AHBD already said it's normal coloration 🙂
Thanks a ton for getting back to me! I really appreciate it. By the way, I couldn’t help but notice your bearded dragon in your profile picture—what an absolutely beautiful critter! Seriously, such a stunning little friend you’ve got there.
Thanks again!

Hey there! I just wanted to drop a quick thank you for calming my nerves about those black lines on my bearded dragon's scales. Seriously, as a new reptile parent, I had a mini freak-out when I first spotted them. I was looking everywhere for answers, wondering if something was wrong or if my little buddy was sick! Your reassurance really helped me breathe easy. It’s awesome to know that those lines are completely normal. Thanks again for being so helpful!🦎

(For some it might be depend on mood; this black skin underneath is always there. Scales on top can change from white to like it is here to a bright orange literally like an orange.)
