I just turned the lights out on Shenrons cage for bedtime, when he started making a weird hissing/whooshing noise, like if you made a hissing sound from your throat. Upon taking him out, he kept doing it, took a big poop on my girlfriend. Has proceeded to continue to puff out his chest/beard. I'm not so much worried about the black beard, as I am the sound? I had him up to my ear and he isn't making any sort of clicking sounds, or wheezing. I'm just curious if this noise associated might be some sort of health concern, or if it is a sound they make when puffing up the beard? I'm hoping he was just not ready for bed, and had to poop? lol...
Did he have his mouth wide open? It sounds like he was just angry! They can hiss when they get angry, i've had one of mine do it before.
Keep listening to him, if you do hear any rasping, popping, clicking or wheezing coming from his mouth when he breathes, take him to a vet because this could indicate a respiratory infection, which can only be treated by antibiotics.
It wasn't ever really wide open, just open when he was puffing out his beard. As for the humidity we use a digital temp/hum prove, humidity is always around 20-upper 30s%.
Ok, it sounds like he was just angry! They hiss when they're angry, pretty much the only noice you do hear from them!!
Just keep listening to see if you hear any of the other sounds i mentioned earlier.
I'm sure someone else will come along and confirm what i've said.
I'm not sure on the humidity levels, they're definately not too high, i read on one post on here not to let it get above 60%, and that 40% is a good level. Again someone else is probably going to come and tell you the right humidity levels.
