Black beard and gaping weirdly?

An update about Nova.
So I found the old petmart thermotor I used to use with my previous beardie and put in in the basking spot.
I know they're not really that accurate but still I was surprised by the heat.

So I totally didn't expect it to be that hot!
I guess I should switch from a 150 watt bulb to a 100?
So after the cold winter and trying to keep the tank temperature up I didn't realize it would get that hot.

That is more than likely inaccurate --- please get the digital probe thermometer before you do anything --- it will be the most accurate

Yeah, but I'm sure its too hot.
So I've been looking at thermomotors and theres a lot, are their any recommendations?
Also I wonder about leaving the heatlight off and only have it on when he's just fed?
He's not blackbearded or gapping now.

Leave the light on he will bask just not directly under it-
Zoo Med digital probe can be purchased at Petco or PetSmart

What is Nova doing today? If you feel the tank is too hot he does have a cool side I am assuming? Does he go to that area?

Its a lot cooler today and he hasn't been blackbeareding or gapping.
Oddly he doesn't go to the cool side very much, it seems he likes to lay on top of his hide and stare out the window.
