i dust bens crickets every day, but yesterday and today hes been licking at the bottom of his food dish to lap up remaining calcium dust. i seen him doing it again 5 minutes ago so i put a pinch of dust in the dish, and just as i thought he went over to it and licked it up. he also digs at it , like hes trying to get as much as possible lol. but i dust his crickets really good, when they go in that have like dust piles on there heads i dont even know how they see
yes i use the reptisun 10 tube. well thats good to hear, i had no idea, ive read about peoples beardies refusing to eat thier veggies when they put the calcium on it, so i figured they didnt like the taste ( mine is still young and eats mostly crickets still) . so when i seen him trying to do that i got concerned hehe, well im glad he likes it , he doesnt have much choice
Yes, much jealous here! Our beardie would prefer his crickets "au natural" if you will. But dust I do, because it's important. He's getting a bit better on it these days, but we recently added phoenix worms to his diet, which while I don't need to calcium dust, I have had to dust with multi-vites. Beardie was NOT amused. He ate, but was not happy about it. His new favorite feeder and I tainted them! The nerve of me trying to make sure he gets everything he needs! I think it's cute that your beardie "licks up the remaining calcium." Indeed, with that, and the ReptiSun, you're in business!
My Alf likes calcium too.She doesn't do it all the time, but once in a while she will lick the calcium, especially if I accidently get extra calcium in her viv. I usually try not to get calcium in her tank, but sometimes shaking in the crickets I do get a small piles of it and Alf eats it up.
Ah, the things we do as caring and concerned Beardie Slaves...
Great video. Ben is so sweet! I love watching other peoples' beardies be the dear and special creatures they are! If I've learned anything from this forum, it's that our beardies, like us, are VERY individual indeed!
Thats exactly what I was thinking...lol
Phoenix does this too although se would NEVER ignore a feeder insect for it.She gobbles them all up then goes after the calcium dust.
