I'd be interested to hear whether other people's beardies have had behavior changes as they age. Figment is currently 4.5 years old, and for the entire time I've had him, he has given me huge issues drinking water. Won't drink from a bowl, won't drink from a bath, won't drink from droplets dribbled on his nose. I started really soaking his greens in water, to make sure he got SOME liquid into him.
But yesterday, as I was misting his back wall to reattach a suction cup, he scrambled forward and started to try to drink from the mist! I started squirting little bits of water onto his nose, and he drank, and drank, and drank. Thinking how thirsty he seemed, I put him in a bath... and he drank from there, too! He's NEVER done that before, and in fact has always hated baths.
Should I be concerned that his behavior is changing, or is this typical? His urates were pretty hard today when he pooped, so I'll be upping his baths to daily for a while.

Not sure on that ---- has it been drier in your area as far as humidity lately? Having the hard urate tells me he was / is dehydrated -- have you tried a eye dropper for giving him water?

Yes, I’ve tried all the tricks and he was having none of it. He also wouldn’t drink from his bath today. And no, it hasn’t been particularly dry here in Connecticut. I’ll see what I can do about upping his water somehow… maybe this time the eyedropper will work!

I think sometimes they do change their preferences, it is relatively common. At least he finally has
decided he doesn't mind drinking water in a variety of ways!
