Hi, for the last couple of days my beardie has been scratching at the bottom of her cage with all four of her legs. I know thats also what they do when theyre about to poop, but considering how long/constant shes been doing it and that she just pooped a bit ago, it doesnt make sense to me. I gave her a bath recently so I dont think she'd have trouble for any reason, and her stomach feels soft. Im thinking maybe she wants to lay eggs. Shes never done this before but ive been waiting for the time that she may do this. how do i tell if this is the case? what do i do if it is? advice would be much appreciated!

Is she digging or just scratching? How big is the tank? Please go over all the lighting - surface basking temps how your taking them and your UVB-- coil or long tube fixture- we want to rule all this out for a cause shes doing this

It looks like digging, I don't have any lose substrate in there but it looks like she's trying to dig down. The tank I believe is 120 gallon terrarium? I don't have any good way of taking the temperatures right now I'm sorry. I've been trying to get a thermometer as soon as I can. The UVB is a long tube fixture from a brand I got recommended on here.

Ok so you need digital probe thermometers as soon as you can get them -- Pet Smart or Petco sells Zoo Med digital probes --- the UVB is in the tank and placed w/ the correct distance right?
Please set up a dig box for her
LAYBOX
potting soil that doesn't have any type of chemicals or fertilizers in it, mixed with sand, etc. Be sure it is at least 10-12 inches deep & that the mix is damp enough to where it will hold up to her making a burrow but not sopping wet to have standing water.

Why would the temperatures cause this behavior? Just wondering. Also yes its in the cage at the appropriate distance. Do I just leave the laybox in her cage? I felt her stomach and I didn't feel any lumps like it said online. She's been very active outside of her cage actually, I took her out to see if she would do that and she didn't to what I saw.

Temperatures in the tank have a lot to do w/ the behavior and digestion of the dragon--- if the tank is too hot inside its going to cause odd behavior that is is why we try to rule out temps and UVB first --- tanks being too small will cause this behavior as well --- dragons that are gravid -- we want to rule out this stuff first --- I would leave the laybox in there for now is she going in it?

im sorry that its taken me so long to reply. I believe the problem is the temperature. I still havent been able to get a thermometer due to family stuff but she acts weird like that only in her cage when the lamp is on. the bulb is 100watts, what would you recommend? 90?

Are you using a clear solid bright white basking bulb? No colored No off white No yellowish or Daytime bulbs- I recommend you dont do anything yet till you get a surface basking temp-- temps in the tank are extremely important --- please get 2 digital probe thermometers -- the temp needs to be ruled out so you can move forward on figuring out the cause of the behavior- what size of the tank is she in? Has she been in the laybox?

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
