Anyone know why my beardy sometimes gets a purple throat and then a few hours later throws up, it has only happened twice in a year and the first time was after he ate a cricket and this time he has only been feeding on cabbage and red pepper which is his usual diet.
He seems ok and after he throws up his throat returns back to normal colour.
Hi,
I'm new and not as experienced, but the purple or black throat is a sign of alsorts of thing's from discomfort, to pain to dominance to mating. So it's a real mix bag. Ive no clue if they throw up food to get a mate, i know my parrot's do so be interesting to hear what the expert's think
Mine every morning, looks at her relection, flexes her beard with black, puffs up into a ball and says im hard, so there.............. then goes and sunbath's
I'm pretty new to this but throwing up doesn't sound too normal. I'll give you a bump. Hopefully one of the more experienced people here will be by soon to help.
I'd guess that he is in discomfort either from eating too much or maybe from getting food stuck in his throat, trowing up makes him feel better so the discomfort goes away.
Cabbage isn't the best food for dragons, mustard greens, escarole, endive or turnip greens would much healthier.
