Hi all, my bearded dragon is being very temperamental with his eating, for example one day he'll eat 1 or 2 crickets, then wont eat for 2 days and the eat 11 crickets in one go. Ive looked around and people say its because he is bored of his food so i went a brought some locusts and he wont eat them. Im getting kinda worried since i need to calcium dust and hes having none of it.
Sorry your dragon is giving you grief, they seem to be good at doing that!
How old is he?
Can you review your tank setup with us, just so we can be sure it is all correct. They do tend
to get bored of their food so changing it up was a good idea. Is he eating any greens or veggies
at all? Does he appear to be losing any weight, or maintaining it?
Since he isn't getting enough food to justify his calcium needs, you can try getting some liquid
calcium to help out his supplemental needs for now. You could get some baby food, such as
chicken or turkey baby food, mixed with sweet potato or squash baby food, for help with his
eating for a short while. Use a plastic dropper or plastic syringe to drop food onto his nose.
