Youre right that'd probably be a lot easier

Snip it close to the wood and bend it up, then bend it back down like a flap.

He was posted on November 27th at 9inches long. Any idea how old he might be? I could ask the breeder, but my guess is he's around 2 or 3 months old maybe ?

What is the distance from the UVB to the basking decor? If its more than 15 inches you will need to get it in the tank or upgrade to a 14% bulb - distance would need to be 17-18 inches for that bulb

It was 16 and a half inches away. I mounted it inside though ! I just cut a hole in the mesh wire like someone suggested. Now that its inside its about 12 inches away.

Yes! He's a red het/hypo translucent with normal scaling. One parent is from Dachiu's
Coral Kakadu and the other parent is a Cawley Belgium Blood from House of Dragons
