Dragons like cool and dark to sleep -- I would remove the water bowl tho --- what are his ambient temps in the tank at night? They should be 65-75 -- please go over all the lighting in the tank -- UVB coil or a long tube fixture and surface basking temps- how are you taking them and what are they? how old is the dragon? My beardie is new to me, only a few daya I've had him. I've been super anxious with EVERYTHING since he's my first ever reptile. Yesterday I came home from work and he was gray, he was warm and fine after I fed him got his color back. But last night he decided to sleep against the glass in his water bowl and I move him this morning into his light because he again was gray but this time when I picked him up he was cold. What do I do? Is he stressed? Or does that happen when he's hungry maybe? Picture one he is full color picture two is about 5 minutes after the basking lamp
He is 6 months old, at night I believe it was 70 on the cool side, the basking lamp is a reptisun 10, it's a coil I believe I have a 20 gal tank, I have a humidity gauge and heat gauge with the needles on the cool side and the sticker temp on the basking spotDragons like cool and dark to sleep -- I would remove the water bowl tho --- what are his ambient temps in the tank at night? He is better in color now, he kept staring at me so I figured maybe he wanted to come out and that's the Glass surfing part?He is 6 months old, at night I believe it was 70 on the cool side, the basking lamp is a reptisun 10, it's a coil I believe I have a 20 gal tank, I have a humidity gauge and heat gauge with the needles on the cool side and the sticker temp on the basking spot
Please get rid of the coil ----- they are no good and inadequate for a UVB ---- too many health hazards w/ these coils---- please replace w/ this 30" I was looking for a 24" but I am having a hard time finding them now- chewy has them but they are spendy and are not including the 5.0 bulb I was looking for for the 20 gallon tank - Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO High Output Terrarium HoodHe is better in color now, he kept staring at me so I figured maybe he wanted to come out and that's the Glass surfing part?
I'll definitely take it out at night, but he wouldn't want water at all? Do they normally just sleep all night? Also how do I know if he's drinking waterI agree with Karrieree take the bowl out, at least at night, he looks to be starting a shed, ghat is likely why his color is off.
This is his cool sides gauges, would this be what yoy mean? And how would I do no screen? He seems to want to climb out sometimes when I open it up while feeding himPlease get rid of the coil ----- they are no good and inadequate for a UVB ---- too many health hazards w/ these coils---- please replace w/ this 30" I was looking for a 24" but I am having a hard time finding them now- chewy has them but they are spendy and are not including the 5.0 bulb I was looking for for the 20 gallon tank - Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO High Output Terrarium Hood
this one has the 5.0 bulb which is good for your 20 gallon -- you will need to set it width wise on the tank one end w / no screen place a piece of basking decor directly under it 6-8 inches - - when you upgrade to a bigger tank this will be good for that larger tank - I recommend a 120 gallon or a 4x2x2 for your dragon - are you using digital probe thermometers to get your basking temps? If not please invest in 2 of them please - they are going to give more accurate temps in the tank - him glass surfing could be many reasons but please get the coil replaced as soon as you can
Unless you see him drink most dragons get their moisture from the salads they eat - the greens can be rinsed before serving or from bathing in the tub or sink --- and yes they sleep all night - photo period 12 hrs on 12 hrs off unless they are brumating -- but please get your UVB changed out as soon as you can ---- that is going to effect his overall health -- cant stress this enoughI'll definitely take it out at night, but he wouldn't want water at all? Those are stick ons ---- take the UVB place width wise on one end take your screen and but it up to the UVB fixture and place the basking bulb next to it -- this is what you want for gauges 2 of them pleaseThis is his cool sides gauges, would this be what yoy mean? I definitely plan on doing that. I've already gone over alot of research with those, I've only had him for 3 days and the lighting came with a kit I got. Was the temperature gauges the right ones? Besides the sticky tape one, I already know those get pretty inaccurate especially over timeUnless you see him drink most dragons get their moisture from the salads they eat - the greens can be rinsed before serving or from bathing in the tub or sink --- and yes they sleep all night - photo period 12 hrs on 12 hrs off unless they are brumating -- but please get your UVB changed out as soon as you can ---- that is going to effect his overall health -- cant stress this enough
See my screen pulls forward, how would I go about that then? Why does the screen matter? I've seen so many people that have owned many have the screen on top. I have cats so it's kind of a safety issue for him, though we lock our door when we leave, I'd rather be safe since he is so young and small yet. Those are stick ons ---- take the UVB place width wise on one end take your screen and but it up to the UVB fixture and place the basking bulb next to it -- this is what you want for gauges 2 of them please

Unobstruct it some way -- the screen blocks 30% of the rays --- 5.0 bulbs cannot go thru screen- 10.0 can but it depends on the screen - if its a fine mesh then no -if its a wide screen yes -- cut the screen if you need to but it needs to be no obstruction --See my screen pulls forward, how would I go about that then? Okay so if I make some of the mesh bigger it'll help some bit? Thank you, I'm definitely going to get that other light but I wanted to make sure I could do something at least. I'm so scared to do something wrong, I'm so attached alreadyUnobstruct it some way -- the screen blocks 30% of the rays --- 5.0 bulbs cannot go thru screen- 10.0 can but it depends on the screen - if its a fine mesh then no -if its a wide screen yes -- cut the screen if you need to but it needs to be no obstruction --
Might be hard to see, but like this? I know he has the very fine mesh so I hope this helps?Okay so if I make some of the mesh bigger it'll help some bit?
