Working with a vet on this tail. Putting silvadene on it twice daily adn doing baths twice daily as per recommendation of vet to help with shed. These new scales are very soft and darker. Will they heal up over time. Is there anything on here that you think would be helpful besides what I'm already doing which is silvadene and warm soaks. The old scale rubbed off these new scales when I was putting on the silvadene. :|
Hi there, can you post more pics in better light , close shots like that and some of the entire tail. Take the pics on a solid colored light but not white background.
As for soaking, unless you're using a betadine solution, soaking in water will generally make it worse by keeping the scales too damp and spreading any possible fungal infection. You can apply raw, unpasteurized honey [ mix 1 part to 3 parts water ] Raw honey is a great antimicrobial + heals a majority of wounds.
I meant to ask, how long has it been like that + how long has the vet been treating it ? And yes, honey ointments are ideal. I've used raw honey on my dragons with good results but the medi-honey brand seems to be the most widely used. They carry it at Walmart + some drug stores like CVS. You could call to see who has it, then you could just pick it right up.
