Hi there I have an adult beardie who keeps glass surfing and when I take her out, she runs around for a while and then when I put her in, she does it again. I noticed recently her scales on her back have turned black. I mist her every once in a while to keep her cooled down since I am in a studio that is one big room thats hard to keep warm during these winter months. Her basking light is constantly having to be moved higher and lower depending if the house is 60 degrees-75 degrees. I have a hard time keeping a regulates temperature. It is never too hot because I am checking it constantly, but I don't know what else to do. Her back has turned black today and she is not hanging out under the basking lamp but she is awake and alert.
That does look suspicious. How are you measuring the temperatures in the tank, what
type of thermometer do you use?
What type of basking light do you have & how close is it to her & what wattage is it?
I would stop misting her in the tank because during the wintertime, with it being colder,
that can contribute to mold/fungal growth as well as respiratory issues.
I am unsure if that is mold or a burn really but it's hard to tell from the picture.
Please review your tank setup with us more, such as the type/brand of UVB, the basking
temperatures, supplementation, etc so we can help more.
I don't think that is an upcoming shed. Can you post some up close pictures of that, too?
