Hello,
I recently switched from feeding my 2 year old beardie juvenile Fluker's pellet blend to adult pellets. They are the width of her eyes but she seems to not be able to swallow they are in a big clump in her throat she has had this problem with mustard greens nut I just pried her mouth open and got it out with some tweazers but with this food it just breaks off when I do that. Can anyone help me out I'm worried that she will have difficulty breathing if left in there.
So are they stuck there now ? If you can't get them out with tweezers you might need an emergency vet. Then I wouldn't give her anymore of that food. If you do, be sure it's very wet and never dry. When you feed her greens, chop them up into much smaller pieces.
I agree that if she is having trouble eating them, you should discontinue using them. When served dry, they don't provide the necessary hydration that fresh veges and live bugs do. Have you tried offering her a little bit of water to help move them along? I wouldn't give her much, and don't force it because she could choke on the water, causing worse issues. If she'll lick up a little bit of water though, it may help her get the rest of the food down.
The food finally came out but now she looks like she is swallowing nothing. I was able to check her mouth and nothing was in there she is breathing normal got 15-20 in the sun today if that makes a difference. I did offer her water and didn't take it.
Perhaps there is still a bit stuck in her beard. Try gently rubbing her beard and see if that helps at all. Otherwise it may just be a reflex still going after the fact which isn't uncommon after they eat. I'm really glad to hear the stuck bits came loose!
