Hey this is Anna with Dog the rescued beardie again.
She's been doing well and putting on weight, perking up with the right lighting and temperature. I've had her here for a little over a week now.
I think she has pooped about... four times? four or five, since I brought her home, and the first two seemed pretty normal, solid and healthy looking etc.
Then the last two times have been... extremely loose and extremely smelly (like, so smelly I actually retched), and green in color.
Info on her feeding schedule: I've been putting out fresh salad for her every morning, comprised of chopped up collard greens, mustard greens, and with a little bit of grated up butternut squash on top for color. Every few days she gets her insects, at first I was feeding her superworms and now I've switched her over to phoenix worms (I plan on giving her the insects daily now that i have a good supply of phoenix worms.)
I don't know if this is something I should be ultra concerned about or just chalk it up to her adjusting to a new diet? Prior to my owning her she was being fed lettuce and mealworms so I dunno if maybe she's just not used to having richer foods or what, but I feel like that doesn't explain why she was pooping normally the first few days. She does have a vet appointment coming up on the 24th so I can get her checked for parasites, I just want to know if maybe there's something with her salad that I should be cutting out or whatnot...
Her salad ingredients sound great! I would agree on probable parasites. Make sure to get a probiotic to give her if meds are prescribed. It will help her tummy, as many parasite meds are rather harsh. Give a dose 6 hours apart from meds.
Will do, thank you! Any thoughts on where the parasites may have manifested from? Mainly just want to know so that I can avoid potential causes in the future.
(also she has just begun to shed, I don't know if this contributes to anything at all)
