So we rescued this pretty little girl two months ago.
Her name is Scuddles.
Someone left her in a shoe-box in front of a pet-store I get my crickets from. I talked the owner of the pet-store into letting me take her home. People think she is about 2 years old, but she is TINY -possibly stunted. She's the size of a fist. Anyhow, not much background on her, clearly. She eats CONSTANTLY and consumes everything; greens, fruits, insects. She runs around non-stop though. Never wants to be in her cage. When she runs around, it is manic and non-stop. Similar to a dragon ready to lay eggs. Yesterday though, I felt a little lump on her belly. It almost feels like an egg. I cannot feel any others though. I constructed her a lay-box, but she has not laid anything. At this point I am thinking it is one of three things: 1.) an egg. 2.) impaction (not likely though because she eat/poops every single day). 3.) a tumor . Can anyone shed some light on what they think this might be? I'd like to hold off on visiting the vet immediately, as I am unemployed currently and it would contribute to even more financial stress. If I need to take her though, I'll just have to. Please advise?
She may very well be ready to lay....she's just as fat as can be ! Give her a lay box, you can use a large Rubber maid tub filled with about 10 -12" children's play sand dampened. By the way, cut down on the fruits, a lot of sugar can create health problems, and she's pretty fat already. Greens and bugs should make up her diet.
thanks for the heads up. Can they lay just one egg though? I swear I only feel one. I have no history on this little girl because as mentioned, her previous owners put her in a shoe-box and dumped her off in front of the pet-store.
She looks so sweet, can't believe that someone left her in a shoe box like that. Thank goodness you came along.
I could never feel any eggs in my female and she has laid 3 infertile clutches. They usually don't lay just one egg. After they lay some, they can just lay one on and off though. Be sure to keep us updated on her and make sure you increase her calcium intake.
I will increase it then. That is really reassuring. Gosh, I hope it's an egg. Since there is no history on her, I don't know if she has had any clutches, been around any males, or has any health issues. I just don't want it to be a tumor
I took her to the vet and he said that she looked very healthy. She might have pinworms (vet mixed all 4 of my beardie's poops and charged me for one fecal. Someone has pinworms and since the poops were mixed, we don't know who it is, and vet is having me treat them all).

Laura...me too!! I totally cried that day when I left with her. I was happy that I got her, but was sad because someone just let her go like that. She's worth more. I spoil her rotten, lol.

I'm so glad.. I know if I had seen that, she would've been coming home with me, and I would have put a whole new set up on my credit card and not cared one bit how much it cost!
I hear ya! I have told my bf NOT to allow me in that pet store anymore, otherwise we will end up with a HOUSE full of lizards. This far, we have 5 lizards and a turtle, which is more than enough for us
