Hey guys I got home took my Amber outside she was on my shoulder I was gently petting her I brushed a few loose scales and she bolted.

She jumped off my shoulder (I was sitting on my porch so probably 1/2-1 foot fall) she squeezed between a few containers on my porch and I caught her before she got stuck.

I gently firmly held the base of her tail (near her vent) and placed my hand under her belly and picked her up she was flattened out like a slab and mouth gaped and beard in full display.

I put her on my chest upstairs and she calmed down I talked her down and consoled her but as I lifted my leg to get up she again flattened out and gaped real big.

I put her in her enclosure then I fed her came back and she was still tweaking out full beard flat and sideways then she went into her hide and hasn't came out since (about almost 2 hrs).

Did I do something? I have NEVER seen her react this way idk if she seen a hawk or big bird or what but she just went in full defense mode.

I talked to her calmed her down made sure she knew it was me and nothing was gonna hurt her she has been spooked before outside but not this bad.

Note: Loose scales as in scales that are shedding but are extremely loose but I don't take them off I let them be and just soak her and let her rub them off

Some dragons really get terrified outside and since she jumped it may have hurt a little so she's just very stressed right now. She should calm down in time, just be patient.

She also had this itty bitty scratch is it vet worthy?

No, no vet needed for a little scratch or most cuts. You can dab a little neosporin [ the kind w/out pain reliever ] or raw honey on it .

Outside can be overwhelming for me and them. I'm watching birds, bees, trees blowing in the wind. I never let them though the grass...I hold them in my arms. Or they sit on me with my hard close.

Observing life through a window provides safety, ruby thinks he can fight the birds that come to the window whereas Rocky can care less....

Life is happening and change is already not their friend.

SHe'll be OK.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
