I was wondering if anyone knew anything about loaning a dragon out to father some babies. I am going to ask the breeder I got Toothless from if she wants to use him to father a few clutches. If she says yes, then look forward to some baby Toothless's running around. I do have some questions though.
Would I need to pay her to breed my dragon?
Does she pay me?
Do I get baby profits?
Would I just take my dragon there to "do the deed", then come home? Or would he need to board?
Any other info?
He is only 4 months now, so he still has a good 8-12 months until he is ready to breed, but I wanted to give this some advance thinking.
A lot of that depends on the deal. I HIGHLY recommend having everything be written out in a contract and signed by both parties.
To answer your questions you might get paid or you might get a portion of the offspring that is up to you. You defiantly do not want to pay her unless you get 100% of the babies. You most likely would not get baby profits just a portion of the offspring. I do not know about wether he will stay there or not.
Thank you. I know the breeder well (she is the one who sold me Toothless and my previous dragon) and I am mor interested in passing along his genetics than earning any money.
I don't think I can take any offspring! I would really like one.. but I wouldn't be able to take a baby until after college in 4 years... Maybe if she likes the results the first time (if she wants to at all), I can offer again when I would be able to take a baby.
Totally up to you, a lot of times you could choose to get first pick at a baby or two, which is pretty awesome considering you don't have to feed and raise a bunch of other babies to sell, or get a small % profit from each baby.
