Excuse me but there is something wrong with my sister's bearded dragon. First off, a while back I noticed there was something wrong with her toe, as it looked dry, rotten and eventually fell off. I then noticed her other toe is now start to do it (btw these are her small toes on her back legs). I would have taken her to the vet at the first sign of tube but money is scarce rn. Also, her feet have turned a dark shade of yellow on the bottom of her back feet. I'm thinking this has something to do with her not shedding properly or something but idk. She also has a patch of dried scales at the bottom of her tail if that has to do with anything. Anything will help and thank you. Ik pictures would help but I can't find out how to post them...
That looks like yellow fungus disease. You need to see a vet. In the interim you can use lamisil on the tail area and any other spots with the fungus.
Is this your only dragon?
Oof...I don't know if I can....
How much do you think it would cost and is there anything else I can do??? My sister is gonna be devistated. And no this is my only one. I did some research on yellow fungus a while back and also did a post on it. People said it was not, just weird scales. It didn't have any growth or anything, the scales are just dried. But the toes might say otherwise...
I don't know what to do if the vet it too much...
Some vets will take payments or CareCredit. Just call and ask if you can apply for either. make sure the vet you call has experience with reptiles as well.
I'll ask someone else to come in and confirm or deny yellow fungus. To me the tail is classic yellow fungus but a second opinion won't hurt. Like I said, if its YF you can use lamisil on the areas to help. I don't know how much good it would do for the toes at this point since they are falling off.
Hi there, the tail does look like Y.F. , only a skin scrape would tell you for sure. Guy, you mentioned that you had made a thread previously about this and that some posters thought it was dried scales. Do you have that thread anywhere ? It's not in your post history.
You can use diluted betadine to scrub the tail lightly with a rough cloth but don't soak him [ that can spread the Y.F. Wear latex or plastic gloves when you do. Then apply Lamisil or Monistat like Claudius mentioned. You can add a small pinch of powdered ginger mixed in , the type in a bottle like this :

Ginger kills bacteria very well, and is being used by some as an antifungal.
In the long run, most experienced vets would prescribe voriconazole or itraconazole oral meds though because the Y.F. may also be internal. Best wishes to your beautiful dragon, hopefully he can beat this !

Ok, thank you for all the advice. But what is a skin scra and how do I tell with this. And if it is yellow fungus, is there a chance it will go away. Ive read that it is usually fatal...
It can be fatal but some dragons may still live for a few years if treatment is started early. A scraping would be for skin analysis to determine if it is Y.F.

OK so I can't do the scraping myself them...oof. Is there any chance it will go away if I start the treatment rn, and also what would the vet give her if it were yellow fungus?
