Bearded dragon tails do not grow back.

A very unusual phenomenon in the reptile world is that some lizards can lose their tail and that tail will regenerate although the new growth looks a bit different . Just wanted to make this thread because many people know that some types lizards have tails that will grow back if they suffer an injury from being bitten or other trauma but bearded dragons are not one of them. Some people don't realize that there are no beardie's that have tails that have grown back. The end part of a wounded beardie's tail can heal over but it won't grow back.

I get asked the question by pretty much everyone that meets my guys. I've debated getting a t-shirt 👕 that says they do not lol 😆

I learned this a long time ago when researching reptiles. They are literally one of a kind, no duplications in any way lol

The tale of two tails! This is an interesting one from the vault. A few years ago a large male eastern water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii ) was brought in having been hit by a car. Sadly his...

Quote : Not all dragon species can regrow their tails. Australian species such as painted dragons (Ctenophorus pictus) and two lined dragons (Diporiphora bilineata) can BUT THE BEARDED DRAGON [ POGONA ] SPECIES CAN NOT..

Quote : It is important that you make sure the bearded dragon is not missing any body parts. Bearded dragons do not regrow their tails, toes, or limbs. So if your bearded dragon is missing something, it will not grow back. With this being said it is not unusual for a beardie to be missing a few toes or the very end of it's tail (many times bearded dragons will fight over females and minor injuries like this occur.

Quote " Bearded dragons can’t regrow their tails, so a tail injury is relatively serious. If you believe your dragon has tail rot, take him/her to the vet. Depending on the severity of the issue, the tail may be saved. Most likely, however, your vet will either recommend surgery or letting the tip fall off on its own."

It’s been a month since I’ve joined bd.org! It feels like it’s been longer than that, but I’m glad I’m here and apart of this lovely community!
I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
bro went to bed already, it’s 10:36 pm
Definitely going to be using this image if I ever catch a fence lizard again.
