I have a bearded dragon named MeKoo and she's pretty famous on TikTok, I loved her so much and she was my wife's baby, I've been devastated for the last few days so much so I had a bad attack of atrial fibrillation that had me out of work for a few days. the reason I'm beating myself up is that I keep thinking there was something more I could have done, she was just fine before we went on vacation for 2 days but when we came back she had lost her appetite, she was gravid so she's done this before but I said ok I'll take her to the vet tomorrow to make sure she's ok

I get home from work and she looks so bad, her eyes were sunken in and she was very pale, I call my normal Vet Alloha animal hospital here in Las Vegas, but they couldn't take an emergency visit so they sent me to Lone mountain animal hospital. When I went in they took MeKoo from me and put me in a waiting room she came back with a vial of blood and said we drained this from her abdomen, we can tell she was carrying eggs and needed to do emergency surgery because one of her egg follicles might have ruptured. I consented and paid 1800 dollars and even checked the box that consented for them to charge me whatever they needed to save her life, she comes back a few minutes later and said I did a blood test and her blood sugar is 500 and she has anemia of 10 and won't make it. I had to make the decision to euthanize her.

This is what's messing me up, I kept that vial of blood and tested it with my glucometer and it's continually tested 247-250, I keep thinking I killed my dragon and since it was late in the day maybe they just wanted to go home or she wasn't confident in her abilities to save my dragon. on the other hand, I gave them an open check and 1800 dollars which they refunded me so I guess they could have bent me over and taken me for a lot of money and just said she died during surgery.

Has anyone else been through this kind of anguish after putting your dragon down, I keep thinking it wasn't cancer and just a ruptured follicle and she could have been saved, I loved MeKoo so much and she was a very funny and special dragon.

Here's a video of how she looked before I took her to the vet

Im am so sorry. I have been a victim of lone mountain also. I took Chomp in at near end of day they refused to even try to help her. The first words out of that blonde bimbos mouth was to euthanize her, i refused in no uncertian terms. She took her back and i could tell she was pissed about it, she comes back 2 minutes later and said they "ran test" and there was nothing to be done. She told me a follicles had ruptured and she would die regardless. They refused to even try. Chomp died. All i know to tell her is she better NEVER walk out in traffic.

Mine was a similar situation, it was the end of the day as well, did you euthanize your baby or did she die naturally later?

They euthanized her, after 30 minutes arguing with them it became obvious she wasn't going to help and i had zero luck getting any other vet to answer the phone, aloha has a message for emergencies but it just looped with no answer (i later went in (thats where my ferret got her meds) and told them. I ended up agreeing to her being euthanized because she was suffering and i couldn't find her help. I use park animal hospital now. The guy there is a little green but he only sees reptiles and seems to genuinely care.

Aloha was was my normal hospital and they were full so they recommend Lone Mountain... NEVER AGAIN for Aloha or Lone Mountain, and I have an appointment for Park animal hospital after reading about the owner Abraham Manimalethuw he's supposed to be a reptile specialist who also owns reptiles, so I have an appointment to see him specifically.

I haven't seen him yet, i see the younger guy (i think Vance is his name but i don't remember for sure). In the experiences I've had with them, they tend to be a bit slow (on stuff like emailing test results and xrays) but they have always seemed to genuinely try to help. Good luck, i hope everything goes well for you.🙂

Hello,

Oh I am so sorry to hear you lost your girl, that is so heartbreaking what you & your family had to
go through. It sounds like at that point, she must have been having some trouble for awhile. This
type of issue is somewhat common, with the eggs or follicles & sometimes they go downhill so fast
there isn't much that can be done.
I know that doesn't help any & you can't replace her but I think you did everything you could for her.
She was definitely beautiful & I am positive she knew how much you loved her.
My condolences to you.

Tracie

I can’t wait to see Dr.Wilson be a big dragon but I try to cherish hard the moments while he still fits in my hand 🦎
It’s been a month since I’ve joined bd.org! It feels like it’s been longer than that, but I’m glad I’m here and apart of this lovely community!
I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
bro went to bed already, it’s 10:36 pm
