Ok so I am new here I have a baby beardie in his Viv is a repti glo 10.0 uvb it also says on the box it has uva aswell 33% ok so I have read mixed reviews about this brand of lighting so I decided to get an Arcadia instead I asked the woman in the shop and thought I had picked the right one it's an Arcadia 10%+ uvb but I can't see anywhere about uav is this an exceptable light or would I have to have another one with the uav... obviously he has a basking area with a light there aswell am I missing something or just a real novice lol
Cool I was just wondering if it was the right bulb really is it just the same as the repti glo but better from the packaging they are both 30 watts 10% uvb but I wasn't sure about the uva part and no I don't have a reflector thanks for the reply anymore info would be greatly recieved
Without a reflector, I'd definitely mount the bulb inside the enclosure as the output will be too weak to work through mesh. I think the difference has a lot to do with build quality control - the Arcadia bulbs are pretty consistent from light to light. If you can get a reflector for the fixture, or a T8 fixture with a reflector it will increase the output quite a bit (although it's still best between 6-8''). If you need more output at a greater distance, I would look into getting a T5 bulb and fixture which is much higher output.
There is no mesh it is a wooden vivarium it also has a few spots he can bask from I will attach another photo also I have put a hammock in now it's in the corner of the basking spot and the uvb bulb is at the top front of the Viv
Haha that's a great shed face photo. Makes him look like a frilled dragon. With that type of enclosure it should be OK as-is. I would build a branch or something so he can get to about 6'' of the bulb for basking if he wants to. It looks like that stump may fit the bill. He has a very nice looking home!
