A saturated epsom salts solution helps wounds to heal in several ways:
1. It tends to draw out pus and foreign material from the wound
2. It softens the edge of the wound and makes it easier to remove bits of debris that are caked to it
3. A warm solution helps improve circulation to the area
What I do is make a near saturated solution (how much water and how much salt doesn't really matter - I just mix the salt into as much water as I am going to use until there is some salt left on the bottom of the container). Make sure the water is luke-warm, and then soak your beardie's foot in it for 10-15 minutes.
A betadine solution will have more or less the same effect. Just thought you might like to know a back-up option
