Hi, I have a 7 months old bearded dragon with the length of 8 inches (from nose to the tip of tail). We could not find crickets and had to feed him superworms because he was hungry. But since that, his stomach became big and he seemed stressful with his skin and underbody turned darker. He looked tired sometimes but the appetite is good. I tried some belly rubs in warm water. The stool also has foul smell. No problem in walking/running. I wonder if he's having impaction? Pls help.
Hi. Superworms are not good to feed baby beardies. Beardies need to be 16 inches before they can have superworms. Hopefully he'll be ok. You can try giving him plain applesauce with a drop of olive oil or plain canned pumpkin can help.
Sorry he is not feeling well right now. Were the superworms very large?
As suggested, use some sugar free applesauce, canned pumpkin & a drop or two of olive or mineral oil via a plastic dropper or syringe to help. You can also give a few nice warm baths, too.
If possible, try to keep him around 80 in his tank overnight to help expedite his metabolism also.
