I have a bearded dragon just turn a year this month. Gave my BD a bath today and put him on my bed, noticed a white spot on my bed sheet. Didnt think anything of it. Picked him up and checked his vent and saw dryed up white spots. He also has been delayed with his poop. Went from every 2 days to a whole week. But he does go. He was just treated for coccidia and hook worms. Im wondering could he be impacted and when given a bath the urate softens up in the water and leaks out some. Or could it be he still has some parasites. Substrate is stick on tile. Eats greens and dubias. Some supers every 2 to 3 weeks and meal worms once in a blue. Im not worried just want to know if anyone else here had this problem. Any info will bw great thanks in advanced.
Sure, the medications will definitely dehydrate them & cause GI distress as well as a change in eating too a lot of times.
Did you give any probiotics for him too? Is he done with the meds for now?
Are the urates harder than normal?
Continue bathing him often & you can also give some oral fluids with a plastic dropper or syringe, too for help with overall hydration.
Drache613 I really dont know what what kind of med the vet gave me. He is done his meds. Urate seems fine besides the orange tint at the end. His poop is looking better then before. Im guessing the meds are working/worked.i just dont know why he went from pooping every other day too every 5 days. He doesnt seem impacted ether.
Sure, the discoloration on the urates can happen with meds or with oversupplementation, too.
It can affect the GI tract & change the motility in the gut. Try increasing his oral fluids to see if that helps get his system moving along better.
It sounds like the meds did work out for him.
Do you have any probiotics you could give him also?
Great! Probiotics are a group of bacteria designed to help out with the GI tract & can help with upset tummies & other disturbances.
You can try non dairy soy yogurt or non dairy acidophiliz.
