I was wondering if there's anyone out there that's able to determine what color phase my dragons might be? I've done a lot of research, and my best guess is that they're a mix of sandfire and citrus. As they've grown and gone through sheds, I've noticed the orange and yellow tones increasing, and I know for sure they have the tiger pattern (top one more subtle because she's getting ready to shed in the next week or so). The pet store considered them a normal bearded dragon as opposed to "fancy" as they label them, but I'm beginning to think I got a better price than their genes are suggesting! I know it's impossible to know for certain without knowing the parent's colors, but as far as I know they get their dragon's from a local breeder that is known to have red dragons on occasion, so it must be somewhere in the line of genes those dragons came from.
Top one I thought might be normal, but it's not always certain. She was more greenish than grey in color with copper and black shades for her tiger pattern when I first got her at about months of age, had no orange on her whatsoever. Now she's got orange lining the spikes on her sides, started gaining some on her tail, and her beard has gained a lot of bright orange as well.
Bottom one looked really dark when I picked him out, almost like he'd spent too much time near the UVB light in the pet store tank because the other one was nearly black from so much melanin pigmenting the skin. He started out grey with black and copper striped pattern, but has lightened up and gained a citrus appearance like that on his arm in the photo (that arm just shed the other day).
