For about a week, I gave my bearded dragon some antibiotic for parasites in his stomach. The veterinarian said that I need to gave the meds during five days then make a pause for two weeks then start again. Now, its been two days since he ate and I put crickets right next to time and he sees them but doesn't move. He looks awful: He has his head down all day and not moving around. Even before the treatment, he started to look like that. Today, I notice that he started licking the air sometimes I don't know why....
I am sorry your boy isn't feeling well!
Would you happen to know the name of the antibiotic he is/was given & the dosage?
It sounds like he has either received too much or it just isn't agreeing with him. For now,
I would go ahead & stop the medication until you can figure out what's going on with him.
Do you have any probiotics you can give to him, such as non dairy soy yogurt, or non dairy
acidophiliz? That can help to settle his tummy right now.
Which parasites did he have, that the vet was treating for? Did they do a fecal exam on
him to determine this?
Since he isn't eating, you can try to get some food in to him. Get some organic chicken
or turkey baby food & mix it with either organic sweet potato or squash baby food. Use
a plastic dropper or plastic syringe to drip food onto his nose. He should like the flavor &
start to lick some off of his snout.
Are his eyes sunken in or his beard black?
Which brand & type of UVB do you use for him, is it a compact/coil type of a long fluorescent
tube bulb?
