I have numerous juvies and was wondering if bathing them togetther was ok. I have quite a few females and 2 males, they are all relatively close to the same size. Just wondering because bathing them one at a time is taking me like 3-4 hours! Obviously, I will continue it this way if necessary, but wanted to know if I could save time by bathing together.
I have seen pictures of breeders with them all in one tub. Perhaps that is just the females?
Are you doing it in the bathtub? If you do bath them together to clean the poop up asap. Also, make sure to watch all of them closely, you don't want one drowning. I know 3-4 hours is alot of work, but it's alot safer.
I used to bath my two together, but the younger one tried to sit on the older ones back (as they do) and ended up dunking her momentarily, so you definently cant leave them un-attended. I'd bath them individually to be safe.
Even when they are by themselves I clean up the poop instantly, drain and refill the tub. I do bath them in the bath tub, and am always there. I feel they are like infants, cant take your eye off for a second! Shocked me when one of the adults dunked its head and swam across to the other side! I keep it very shallow for the juvies, no heigher then their elbow on the shallow end of the tub. More then anything I guess I was wondering if it is ok to bath the males with the females, and with other males at this young age. When do they become aggressive toward each other?
Hi Stephanie!
I've been waiting to see what others say as I have 7 beardies and Z&W the 2-headed beardies. I have always worried about bathing them together but is sure would save time, wouldn't it? I have a couple of females that can be aggressive so I'll probably continue to take hours to get done with baths. Aggression usually sets in around 3 months of age. Can be sooner can be later.
When we use the large plastic tub that we bought for Redrock to soak in we soak Speedy and Zoom Zoom together. When we use the water dish we got for Miss O and Miss Y we soak them separately. I guess it depends on the personality of your beardies. Our current two get along together good. Zoom Zoom decided she was hungry a couple of days ago when she wasn't 5 minutes earlier. She tried to eat Speedy's tail because she thought it was a superworm. I took her over to where the superworms were and she went on to eat another 11 supers. I guess we are lucky and both our girls are not the testy kind.
Yeah, so far my juvies are not aggressive toward each other. I do have one male that was aggressive toward one of the females, so I will continue to do him seperate. I think at this point I may only try to do the girls together and see what happens. Thank you everyone for the advice. It is appreciated!
