I was messing around on Cl and came across an add for a baby beardie. Well my friend wanted to get one for her sisters birthday in March. So I called her let her know and she then contacts the lady from the add. Oh its in great health five months old and eats good.
We went today me because I already have a truly healthy beardie. We get there and he is kept in a small tank in a closet with no light no supplements and no food. And get this she had bought him for her 15mo old so! They only fed him six crickets a day. H is so skinny weighing in at 11g and 7" long and he has all his tail unlike my zora who is six months old 10" long ( nose to tail nip ) and 288g.
As soon as we got him to my house we scrubbed his tank and stuff fed him but he only ate 8 crickets then .5cc of critical care and .01cc of liquid calcium. He has mbd bad enough he can't even hardly walk I was wondering if there was anything else I could do but didn't think of.
what a story, glad you got him. Sad that people get pets without researching them. I don't have any more idea's then what you allread have done. Lots of luck and love for the little guy. keep us updated on his condition.
Poor thing, at least he has you helping him now!
You can do water therapy on him daily to help him get stronger. Keep your hand in the water with him so he will feel more secure. Also place a bath towel (small) on the bottom so he doesn't slip around, too.
You can put a rock or something in there for him to climb on to rest also, if you want to.
Do you have any pictures of him?
Which UVB light are you using for him?
Right now he has a reptisun10 18" linear bulb they had a tropical reptiglo coil bulb on him when they would actually turn it on. I am still working from my phone but I will try to stop by my friends house on the way home from church and post some pictures. Thanks for the responses. I will try the water therapy with him other then that is there anything else I can do. Other then being skinny and The mbd he seems to be in good health
Awwww poor little baby! he is so cute too! Good on you for saving him! What a neglectful owner, I can't believe some people, makes me sick! I dont know what you can do other than what you are already doing, maybe some wax worms as they are very fatty and might help plump him up a bit, and lots of baths - he is probably dehydrated byt he sounds of things also. Are you giving him a vitamin suppliment also? But it sounds like you are doing a great job. Keep us updated!
It's good that he is improving. Be cautious about having the two out together. He is so small that the other could do some serious damage in just and instant, and he can't really run away too well.
