I bought a baby draogn 4 days ago, and in the first day or so, he was a little scared but after that he got used to his habitat and was fine. He as pooped every day and eats every day. But today, I noticed that he sometimes closes one eye and lets the other open, after sometime he switches the one that is closed. I thought it was because of the uv light being to low (my aquarium is a little low, the light is about 19cm form the ground), or something in the eyes. I inspected the eyes and they looked normal, after that I tried to get the light to be higher. I took him out of the aquarium and he was really energetic (climbing to my shoulder, inspecting everything around him) but even out he did the thing with his eyes once or twice. I searched the internet and I saw that coil uv lights caused this, and I use one of those (Because of that, tomorrow I'm going to the petstore to get a tube one), but also something that he only started doing today was scratching his head against his rock, glass and basically everything. I'm probably getting the tube uv light anyway, but I'm really worried and wanted some insight on this. Thank you for all the help.
Hi. Good you are getting a reptisun 10.0 tube uvb. That should definitely help. You can even turn the coil uvb off. As for rubbing his head it sounds like he's shedding.
Thanks for the help. I called the pet shop to ask if she has the lights and the lady said that she never really had a problem but I should take the dragon, to see if he had anything.
I just have one question, should the brand be exactly that one? Again, I'm new to this.
Thanks for the help, again.
My beardie still does that sometimes. I have a reptisun 5.0 btw. It's just something they do. As long as ther eisn't clouding or discharge, you're good.
