We have a picky adult beardie, but she's always ready to eat. We recently got a new baby beardie, and it refuses to eat. I've offered crickets, waxworms, mealworms, and dubias to no avail, and i've tried spinage, nappa cabbage, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries to nothing. I've had it for about a week now. I
t is in a 10gal (will upgrade when it gets bigger) with a 50watt heat bulb and currently no UVB (the one we had broke, getting a new one on Wednesday, it's being shared between the two rn) and it is a very active little critter. I've been leaving it be (aside from a few times when I was making sure it was doing alright), I tried putting it in a smaller container with food all around it, it would grab a couple of mealies and a dubia, but nothing else.
Once in a while it'll lean up against the corner of the tank and just sit there. Ive been thinking it was too hot, so I'd turn off the light once in a while (we've been having 80 degree weather and it's been getting upto 90 inside)
The last time I cared for a little baby, it died, our current beardie was older when I got her. The baby I got was from a pet store, it had a toe bitten off (very well healed rn) and they said it was eating fine. Is there something wrong?? It's approx. 8in. from nose to tail.
Btw; Dubias are the staple of their diets, I offer mealies, crickets, and waxworms very occasionally to add some variety.
