i'm a new beardie owner. i got mine from petsmart (bad idea, i know) and he was really skinny. i've been feeding him very small wax worms for the past week (i ran out of crickets) and kale. the wax worms are temporary. he goes to the bathroom daily. i don't need a lecture on how to raise it, i just need to know if he looks healthy or not &i if his little chubbiness is okay since i've never owned one before. sorry the picture is sideways lol
i give him a good bit of kale in the mornings (i also put water on them to ensure hydration) & 5 wax worms at 3. he is definitely chunky so i know he's eating good. i went a little slower on the wax worms because he did get mildly impacted at first. once i gave him olive oil he definitely got it out. i just want to keep an extra close eye on him now because the impaction really scared me lol. i dust the worms with calcium dust. and he was eating little crickets before the worms. i plan on getting him silk worms , before i ran out of crickets he didn't seem to like the crickets as much & i know wax worms are fattening
edit - i forgot , he also eats juvenile beardie food occasionally. it's in his food bowl at all times if he gets hungry while i'm at school (you can kind of see them in the picture)
Hi. He looks healthy, but you can definitely feed him 2x a day for as much as he will eat in 10 mins. They need 80% protein and 20% salad. Also kale binds calcium so I'd mix some mustard greens, collard, turnip greens in with it. Beautiful dragons.com has a list of what to feed salad wise.

Was just about to say this...kale is ok, but more of a "sometimes" food. Mustard, turnip and collards are your best bet for staple feeding salads. If youd like, i can send a link to a site i use for beardie feedings/salads. Lists all sorts of veggies, fruits. Etc and how often they can be fed to dragons, including nutritional pros/cons.
i didn't not know that at all. i thought kale was the best for him lol, i feel so bad now. please do post a link , i want him to be as healthy as possible
