Yes, you wil need to change out your Reptisun light, it looks to be a compact/coil type of fluorescent bulb. That could be affecting him as it emits low wavelength UVB & causes health & eye issues.
Try to get the temperatures to a range of 95-102 just to allow for a better ambient reading. He will enjoy that I think.
Keep giving him baby food, he needs the nutrition right now!
The calcium can be given 5 times per week, just a small pinch daily is great.
Keep up the great work! I am happy to see your son so involved with him, how wonderful.
Just an updated on our baby Hercules... unfortunately this morning our baby Hercules passed away. It's a tough day here for us--especially my poor son.... It breaks my heart, I (we) worked so hard to take care of him and love him. We grew to love him and I felt he loved us. He was definitely a part of our family.
He was doing well the past two weeks interacting with us and eating his baby food--not crickets or worms though. He really loved strawberries and chicken baby food...poor little guy would get excited for feeding time. I was thinking he was going to start eating his crickets soon! For the past three days he was very sleepy and didn't want to eat. We kept him hydrated, but he was very, very sleepy. This morning things seemed to be looking up---his color was good--he was sleeping, but he looked up at my son before we headed off to church. Unfortunately, when we got home from church this afternoon he had passed away.
Thanks to everyone on this site for their help and support with Hercules. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. He was our first 'dragon'. I never thought I could like never mind LOVE a reptile! I'm sure we will be back, since my son may want to try again. This time I will be researching a breeder and won't start with a baby dragon as young as Hercules was (4 inches..said to have been 1 month old!) ...maybe someone could help me with that...
Oh No!!! I am so sorry about Hercules!!! At least he knew he was loved in his short lifetime...You did all you could for him,,sometimes the really small ones just don't make it. Please give your son a hug, and yourself too! My thoughts are with you both!
Hugs,
Kelly
