Help!!!
We take our beardie on walks with us just about every day.
Today for whatever reason he fell.
When he did he looked to me as if he'd broke his neck, it bent straight up and to the side and he went belly up for a short amount of time.
He's reacting to sound and touch and opening his eyes and moving somewhat now.
I have no idea of any herp vets near me or how much that would cost.
Keep him well hydrated. Has he eaten since his accident? I have no idea what to say other than that.. poor baby. Can he move good? Is his beard goin black for no reason at all? I would PM Tracie, Drache613. She is a moderator on here and is real knowledgeable on these things.
He hasn't ate since his fall. He doesn't seem anymore irritable, I handled him for awhile after his fall because I thought he was going to pass shortly thereafter. His beard is the same as usual.
AWESOME there is actually a herp vet in my town I never knew! Do you think I should take him? Are these kinds of visits expensive? I just want to know what to expect.
I would keep an eye on your dragon, and see how he progresses threw the night. If he is breathing, and moving on his own tomorrow you might not have anything to worry about, you are the best judge on taking him in or not. Dragons tend to be tough animals, so he might be OK. Just keep him hydrated and under a good UVB/UVA lamp ReptiSun 10.0 tubes are I about the best in my opinion. Lighting and temps are the most important thing right now, Dragons heal with light and warmth. His basking spot should be 105 to 110, and he should be within 6 to 8 inches of his UVB light. I hope he perks up tomorrow and all is fine.

Congrats on a vet in your area!! That is awesome!!! I dont know exactly what to expect when it comes to prices. My herp vet charges the same for a visit as he does my moms cat, but weve been going there with our animals since i turned 16(I am 28 now) so i dont know if that matters or not but yeah.
Also I want to ask about your beardies eyes, the top of his eyes seem to be kinda big are they always that way or is it just the picture
? I dont know much about silk/leather backs I have no idea if they are the same as a reg dragon or not lol
I am so sorry that he fell. How long was he on his back?
If he was on his back for a short time, he could have possibly injured a lung as they are not able to breathe well on their backs.
How far of a fall did he take? What was the surface that he fell on?
I would take him to the vet for a checkup though to be sure nothing is broken.
If he is not eating then you could ask the vet for critical care formula to help with appetite.
I would aIso lower his basking spot so he doesn't hurt himself when climbing to bask. If you can, keep him around 80 overnight to help boost his immune system.
I didn't realize his eyes were big they're always like that hahaha. He does however get what looks like a piece of extra skin that just hangs off his one eye that I have to get off with a qtip because he keeps it closed a lot when he gets that.
He was on his back for maybe a minute, at the time though it felt like forever.
Today he is eating and moving around as normal as far as I can tell.
He was on my shoulder when he fell and I'm 5 foot 7 inches. He fell on concrete, we were out on a walk. We take one just about every day and this is the first time he's ever fell!
I'm so scared to take him outside now :/
LOL maybe its just me! haha he has some cool colors all the same! I am glad he seems to be doing better. I'd just keep my eye on him and make sure nothing changes..
I am glad to hear he is doing well. He doesn't have any signs/symptoms of internal injuries?
Is he eating normally also?
That was quite a fall for such a small dragon.
Keep us posted on any changes with him.
He seems to be acting normal to me, he's eating normally. he's never really been a very active dragon though.
I might take him to the vet just to be sure, haven't decided yet.
When I got my little girl dragon, I took her in for a well baby dragon check, and my vet did not charge much at all. You can call your vet and ask how much a check up would be. It also helps if you do have an emergency, because the Vet already has all the stats on file, and don't have to collect as much information.
