We just got a baby beardie, he's at most two weeks old. We get him small crickets, but when we put him in his feeding tank, he only seems to eat about 3. I think the most I've seen him eat is 5. Is it normal for babies to eat so few? I mean it would make sense since they are so small.. but I just want to make sure. His behavior seems normal and he does go to the bathroom once a day so it doesn't seem like anything is wrong. I also put a dish of finely cut cucumbers and mangoes and he nibbles on them as well.
It's strange though, because we get the small sized crickets, but of course there's some bigger ones in there.. and whenever we put him in the feeder tank, he'll only eat the bigger crickets.
That's what we figured. He is probably about 1-2 weeks old. He's really small so I can imagine him getting full after a few. He just eats them so quick.. we put him in the tank, runs to the crickets and is done within 2 minutes.
He doesn't seemed stressed at all, that's why I questioned his eating. He seems healthy and is fine so that's all that matters.
We just got a baby beardie as well, and she didn't eat much either to begin with (she's 1 month old). but after about a week of adjusting she's now eating probably 8 or so crickets 3-4 times a day. it seems to be enough for her, she's shedding and growing. but for the first few days' she'd also only eat a few.
