I took Antares to the vet yesterday. He does not have a RI. His white blood cell count is not high so he’s not showing signs of an infection. What He does have is a wound in the back of his throat along with excess mucus most likely because of the wound and swelling of the wound.
The vet gave him a cortisone shot for the swelling so he doesn’t keep aggravating the wound doing all the things he’s been doing. He also sent me home with a few days of oral cortisone to give him every other day. I didn’t want to do the injections if it wasn’t necessary.
Antares was a champ at the docs. He was so good and a bit wiggly. When we got home he did the throat thing, but it was very minor and short. He didn’t eat many Dubia but he had a big day. We cuddled in the evening for about 45 minutes and he fell asleep on me! This was our first real cuddle session. I loved it!
He ate well this morning and has basically been in the same spot since this morning. Which has been the norm for him. He generally gets moving around about 4:30-5. Then he’s all over the place until around 8-8:30 when he settles down again.
I’m so relieved he doesn’t have an infection and I hope he heals quickly. Thank you for all the help and communications. I truly appreciate you.
