Alden my little kamakaze, leaped out of my hand a landed on his little arm and broke it about a week ago. He is VERY small. From head to tail he is as long as my middle finger to my wrist. We took him to his vet and he could't see a break on the xray because his bones are so small, but by the way his arm was laying, it was obvioulsy broken. He wrapped his arm to his body, but this is day two of that and his arm is swollen now. Any suggestions on how to help him heal? We were told not to give metacam because he's so small it my mess his stomache up.
I would call the vet and let them know his arm is swelling and see if they can recommend something else to try. The bandage might be too tight. They should definitely be able to help, especially since they've already seen him.
Hi i'm so sorry about your babies arm! One of my rescues, Twitch RIP also broke his arm. All he really needs is cage rest, liquid calcium, and proper UVB to get the healing started. You can buy the liquid calcium from beautiful dragons.Tracie usually suggests that you buy a natural pain medician from online, unfortunatly i'm not sure what it is called. You can PM her to find out. He needs to be in a very small tank, about a 10gallon until the bone can start to mend itself. Put down a soft towel as a substrate. Since they decided not to put on a soft cast then cage rest is the only option. Does the break seem jagged? Like it might pop through the skin? If so then they need to splint it.
Hope I could help! Happy candy day!!!!
