calm down?

Mine is still quite young (about 5 months old). But whenever I hold him, he spends the entire time trying to run away and explore and he's quite quick. I still hold him every day, but some days I've had near-escapes. After about 10 minutes of this he generally calms down and snuggles onto my lap and sleeps, but I heard that when they're older, they are much calmer and will just relax on your shoulder or leg and chill. When do they start to calm down? I love his adventurous spirit and I love cuddles, I was just curious.

jayden is 3 months old. i can take her out and she will just sit on my shoulder. the only time she tries to run off is when im sitting on my bed. took my first one alot longer to calm down

Do you ever actually let her run around and explore? They're very curious animals, and you should give them an area where they can just explore.

I got mine at a month and a half, and he was very calm since then..But he's a natural lazy dragon,so that might be the cause of it. Whenever he glass dances,I'll take him out, give him a bath for him to poop, then let him have free reign of my room for a few hours. After he gets all the excitement out of his system,he'll find me and snuggle right up in my blankets

I'm just nervous about losing him (he tries to climb up me but I'm afraid he'll jump over my back and get lost in the couch). I'd be afraid to let him have free range of my room because what if he falls of my bed? I know I'm being overprotective, but he's fallen from my hand to my lap before and it worries me thinking he could fall from further and hurt himself.

Well, don't put him on the bed! You can make a little play pen with some boxes and things.

I agree with daner923 build a play pen and put things in it he can climb and explore. He will wear himself out and you'll be able to hold him while he snuggles in for a nap. As far as jumping, I think it is a sport that is just in their DNA, at least it is in our beardie. He tries to jump from my shoulder in the chair to the nightstand all the time. It is about a 2ft leap and he never makes it. Thankfully he has never hurt himself either.

We build our play pen out of some 4 ft - 1 X 8 's, I set up one of my old camera tripods with a hook on the bottom and I hang a heat lamp from it with a little soft bed for him to crash in when he is tired. He has a few things to climb on and I put his veggies in there too. I set it up when I work from home and put him in there while I work. He mostly sits and watches me but he does climb around and play.

i would let her but i dont have anywhere safe for her to run around. only place i could let her run free is the passage downstairs, but then again i have 4 dogs and they would either stand on her or probably try to eat her.

Yeah, that sounds do-able! Thanks :)
I could maybe section off part of the living room too. We just got a dog a little bit ago and he's crazy, so I'm extra cautious with him, but I can put him outside for a bit and let him wander, even a little.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
