Hello, I am getting a baby beardie soon and I'm planning on getting a 40gB. I'm either going to start the baby in a 20gL or even in the 40gB and divide it and grow the beardie out. These are items that I'm getting for my beardie. Are these good choices? Each item is a link to what it actually is. Please check them out and tell me if these are good enough for my beardie. Now, with the UVB, I'm starting out with an 18" because I have a fixture it will fit in. I will buy a new fixture whenever I upgrade the beardie to the full 40gB. And as for the basking bulb, I have a dimmer for it, so I can control the heat it gives off. I just read on here that flood bulbs are good for beardie tanks.
I already have a food and water dish. So, is this stuff good enough, in your opinion? I'm only going to go with ReptiSun for UVB as well. I'm going to find some decor in the wild for my tank. I live by a park, so I can easily find different types of driftwood and stones. I'm going to cure them first, so they'll be fine in the long run and won't get the beardie sick. All in all, does this stuff look god to you guys? Thanks for looking!
Hi Kiara....it all looks good. The Reptisun 10.0 is an excellent light, highly recommended and you will be able to monitor your temps very well. The repti carpet will be harder to keep clean as the dragon grows because of the large poos that he/she will produce. Sometimes you can get them in the habit of pooing when you give them a soak every other day, or twice a week for an adult. Some people use non adhesive shelf liner that can be wiped up more easily. I use newspaper. And that's a great idea to gather logs + rocks from outside....you can put them in the oven for 45 -60 minutes at about 250 to kill any bugs.
I have used the carpet before and the Exo terra sand mats. I now use Duck brand non adhesive shelf liner and am very happy with it. Using paper towels works really well but it is a recurring cost. You will be replacing the towels at least once a day so you will go through towels very quickly. The liner wipes up very quickly and easily. Everything elses seems pretty on point. I will say that top loading tanks are a pain though.
