hi all,
my name is emma and we've just adopted a two year old beardie (corinthian) from a friend.. he likes getting out of his viv, which we keep in the hall, for wander about...we've no other pets or kids so i was thinking about creating another area for him in our living room with a large potted palm (maybe a ponytail palm) or an elephant yucca tree for him to climb on plus additional uv and heat lamps so he can bask while he hangs out with us.. this would be in addition to the vivarium we already have set up, not a replacement for it..
does anyone know if any palms or yucca are toxic to beardies? has anyone done something like this and how successful was it? any advice or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated..
sorry if this type of thing has been covered before but i couldnt see anything like it in the archive
thanks for the reply, the link was really helpful..
liking your window ramp idea.. we live in scotland so the window ledge is probably a bit too cold for him at the moment but i'll give it a try when the weather improves! another problem with him on the window ledge is that we live on the ground floor, across the road from a playground.. if he gets spotted we'll have hundreds of kids pressing their noses up against the window, tappin on the glass.... that would freak me out never mind him!! lol!

I can solve that window kid issue. Put a sign on the window that says BEWARE FIRE BREATHING DRAGON. or Corinthian love fingers that tap on the glass with his ketchup! LOL Not to make more work for you but you could maybe put something outside in front of the window so they can reach it but see it or maybe make him some planks that let him up higher. Just a thought. PS i'd love to live in Scottland can we move in with you?
