That's good that you bought one. How quickly you see a change, depends on the beardie. What had been going on before, had he not been eating and been very inactive?
she had been eating little to nothing. little being maybe only 1 or 2 medium locusts or only 1 medium dubia roach. but she seems to be going a bit crazy. ive had the light on for a few hours and she wont keep still, she keeps glass dancing and trying to climb up the walls in her viv. just wondering if that's normal.
A distance of 8" is actually too close. I'm getting a good UV reading with a Solar Meter with the 80 watt MVB at a distance of about 10" from her basking spot. The Arcadia bulbs are stronger than the Repti-Suns so the distance of 6 to 8" isn't enough for these bulbs. If you have it on a lamp stand, please move it further away from the basking area and since it's a 100 watt, I would move it to 12 to 14" away and then double ck the temps then. You wouldn't want the basking temp on her log any higher than 110.
I just checked the http://www.lightyourreptiles.com website and it states there that the 100 watt MVB should be a distance of 12 to 14" from the basking spot since they put out a lot of heat and UV.
If you don't have it on a lamp stand, can you use a lower basking log or rock to get it the right distance and the right temps?

sadly not. im getting a bit miffed and I feel like crying cause im that annoyed. its inside a wooden vivarium which is only 21" tall. I cant get the lamp to go any higher that the 8". so im going to have to chuck it which means ive lost £35, and since ive used it I cant return it for a refund.
im just going to have to go back to using her normal basking light and her tube uvb light and hope she starts eating again.
Can't you use a basking rock or log to get it at the right distance & temps? Or, you can get a lamp stand. What size is the vivarium?
If you got it through lightyourreptiles, he will more than likely give you a refund. The bulbs are totally guaranteed and he strives to make everyone happy.

Yes Kristine, it's fine to use it on the mesh/screen as long as the distance and temps are correct. What wattage are you planning on ordering and what size is your tank?
