Arcadia Lumenize Issue

I set up my new dragon's enclosure with the Arcadia Lumenize setup for the LED and UV. The LED goes on nice and gradually as it should - 0% at 7:15am and 100% by 8:15am. However my UV bar is programmed to go from 0% at 7:30 to 100% by 8:30 and for some reason when it goes on at 7:30 it seems to go to 100% for a moment then dims back down for the gradual increase. It's quite annoying since the LED bar doesn't do that and the whole turning on gradually thing is the whole reason for the Lumenize system. I've double checked all the cables are connected right, I've done a factory reset, and I've also set it so 7:31 is set to 1% to try to force it to go on slowly but it still did a 100% jump initially then dimmed. Any ideas?

It's a 24W 12% bulb by the way.

Also - I tried using the 'manual' slider and even then when I go from 0% to anything it flashes on bright initially then dims down to the selected percentage.

I haven't gotten a chance to use one of those yet, but from what their documentation shows, it looks like the UVB is supposed to gradually ramp up from 0 as you're saying. I'm not quite sure how they go about that but it sounds like the initial 100% and then a quick ramp down goes against what they are stating. It might be worth a chat with Arcadia support to verify if this is expected behavior or perhaps initiate a return/replacement for a defective unit.

Yeah it's definitely meant to be gradual. I have the LED one too and that ramps up gradually just fine...not 0 to 100 then back down. It goes 0 to 100 over the hour like it's meant to...the UV one does a weird off/on then adjusts for the programmed gradient. Very odd.

I would contact support.
It is possible that the bright flash when turning on is a technological feature for igniting a cold lamp. But it is better to hear this from a support specialist to make sure.

Hmm...yeah maybe, maybe my heat needs to be on for a little longer before turning the UV on in that case. I've sent them an email, just waiting for a response. Frustrating since otherwise I really love the gradual sunrise in the morning!

That's kind of what I suspect. I think pretty much all florescent lights have a built in starter of some sort.

UV lamp is a fluorescent lamp.
To turn it on, you need increased voltage to ignite the gas in the tube. After that, the voltage can be lowered. But I'm not sure how it works in adjustable Arkadia lamps, maybe they somehow reduced this effect. you need to wait for a response from the support service. I myself am very interested in this, because I heard about this lamp, but I have not seen how it works.

I know like here, out in the shop when it's cold. If the Florence lights are slow or flickering you can grab the bulb on each end with warm hands and slide your hands to meet in the middle, and the bulb will pop on. I'm guessing it warms the gas inside. It's pretty cool to see it done.

Hey I wonder, was your issue resolved? :)
Sadly no, I never got a reply from Arcadia and the light still blinks on bright then settles down but sometimes seems okay and does what it's supposed to? Annoying but luckily my beardie doesn't seem to care or react to it. I wish I had gotten a response from their customer support but at least it's not a life-or-death thing - the UV levels are still correct when I check them.

If it is still important to you, I can also try to contact them with your question again. Maybe I will be lucky and they will answer, I can be very convincing.
Can you make a video of how your UV light turns on?

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
