So currently little Dex is in a 40 gallon breeder. He seems pretty satisfied, I suppose, but I'm not. He's only 3 months and 11 inches so the tank is fine for now, but every website seems to suggest that a 40 gallon tank is the minimum size for an adult beardie. I don't want to only have the "minimum" size tank. I wanna give him more room so would like to get a bigger size vivarium in a couple months. Does anyone have any suggestions to where I could get a good sized, well built tank?
I found this place from faunaclassifieds.com. http://thecageddragon.com/products-page/cages/
The tank I am interested is this one:
It's $195.00
Is this a good buy? (It's 48" x 28" x 18")
That is a good price for that size enclosure, but in the photo I can't tell if there are any vents inside so the air can circulate. What other extras does it come with? The stand? fixtures? Are the doors glass or plexi?
There are three small circular vents against the back wall. You can see them in the pic. But that's it I think. I also believe it has built in fixtures. One for UVB and one for heat lamp. I'm not positive, this is just one I saw real quickly. I'm hoping it has more than two fixtures. I'd like to have two lights besides the UVB bulb.
Okay, I though I saw vents but wanted to make sure. For $195.00 that is a nice looking enclosure and would meet your Beardies needs fine. you could always add another fixture if you find you need one. As long as you have a fluroscent fixture in there for your ReptiSun 10.0 UVB bulb and one for you basking bulb, then you are all set. Adding another would come down to personall preference.
The guy who distributes those cages is Chris Allen. You might have heard of him. They are great cages. He is having a small problem with the maker getting them delivered but because you already have a 40 gallon breeder. Waiting for the delivery shouldn't be an issue for you. He is located on the N.J. shore and has no problem with you picking them up. It would definitely be cheaper than having it shipped to you. They come with 4 back vents, a 24" florescent fixture, a porcelain fixture and sliding doors. Great for the price. Contact him.
That price is amazing, as long as shipping isn't crazy. I've gotten both of my cages off of craigslist for cheap. I had to lurk every day for a while to find them, but one is 48x24x18 and the other is 48x24x24, both glass sliding fronts and made out of melamine. And since it's local, I just had to go pick them up. Being pre-owed, they already had all of the fixtures and vents, I just made sure to give them a good scrub and disinfection to make sure they were good to go.
