Those are femoral pores, they secrete a waxy substance that dragons mark territory with. Be sure to have some rough surfaces for him to scrape against and keep them in good shape. Can you pick him up and show his legs all the way across ?

Flat stone works the best. Nothing with sharp edges though. Sandstone, limestone, basalt, granite, ect.
