Hi!
Puddle, our 2 year old beautiful beardie, has had a hard summer: cocidia, limping since august, decreased appitite, and an eye infection. We've seen two vets, and this most recent vet prescribed antibiotics, due to the amount of mucus in his eye and nostril. I hate to give it to him because he has been having such a hard time, but I am following the advice of the vet. Can anyone recommend a good probiotic?
I love this poor litte guy and just want him to feel better!
thank you,
Katie & Puddle
They can get rough on their systems. I would offer some water drops on his nose to provide some extra hydration which might help protect his kidneys a bit too.
he's super unhappy; black beard! I just ordered the probiotics; i feel so awful giving him the antibiotics- wondering if I just shouldn't give him the antibiotics or if it's necessary. I hate this and just want him to feel better!
Poor thing. Do you know the name of the antibiotic? They are definitely rough on their systems and also very drying. Perhaps he would get a drink if you gave him a bath unless that stresses him out.
While you're waiting for that particular probiotic to arrive, you could pick up Benebac gel made for reptiles and birds from your local petstore. Our beardies always loved that and would willingly lick it off their noses.
Good luck, hope he can feel better soon, I know how upsetting it is when they don't feel good.
Puddle has been so upset (very black beard) and lethargic with two doses of antibiotics! He refused thin this morning. I think I'm going to stop giving them
